April 26th, 2012
Your Cougar’s girls rugby teams split their games with O’Neill yesterday.
The seniors started the game off well tying the game 5-5 early on a try by Corlyn “el capitain” Turner. The pack rucked well and were close to scoring a few more times but in the end a solid effort resulted in a 20-5 loss. Notable games from:
Emily “gotta go low” Martin, Brittany “so close” Cooper and Vicki “mouthguard, check” Derbyshire.
The juniors played a complete team game for the first time this season, the result a 29-0 victory. This game saw great ball retention and hard running on offence combined with sure tackling and a strong scrum on defense. Scoring trys were:
Maddie “8 just like the shirt says” Perrault with 2
Ashley “short side” Czop, Tanya “quick start” Hollingshead and Natasha “tackle machine” Burry with one a piece.
A fine display of kicking saw two conversions from Alex “it’s your job now” Groves.
Notable performances:
Breanne “catchin on” Hogarth, Chrissy “ka pow” Gilbert, Erin “shorts” Slater and Jenna “steals” Beatty

Boys Rugby
April 24th, 2012
The Cougar boys played a little rugby in a variety of weather conditions yesterday at St. Marys. The boys played well defensively and had some good tackles in the first half but fell behind by a try. In the second half the strong defense continued but the Cougars started to move the ball down the field as well and capped it off with a try by Tom Garrity to finish the game in a 5-5 tie.

Less Mud, Less Results
April 19th, 2012
Your Courgar girl’s rugby teams headed to Port Perry yesterday on the first anniversary of the mud bowl.
The senior girls came up short in a 15-0 loss. With two juniors up to help out your Cougar’s took some time to get on track but could not get their offence started.
Notable Players:
Rachel “proper” Smith and Sarah “taped ankle number two” Turner who helped our scrum to dominate.
and Sam “that close” Rockbrune who almost put us on the scoresheet.
The junior girls began the game slowly and got stronger as the game went on, scoring a late try to break the shut out. The result was a 27-5 loss.
Notable performers:
Alex “boots” Groves with stong tackling and kicking.
Linda “how’s that for flanking” Hamed with many tackles.
and Shawna “grabbed a leg” Sidorkeiwicz with a key play in a ruck.
A better start and better results are expected on our home field on Monday.
