Sizzling June Afternoon!

June 10th, 2011

This past Wednesday Courtice students got to study a new subject in school…fun! June Afternoon was awesome. Popular attractions like the slip ‘n slide, sumo suits, and gladiator were a big hit again this year. Students also had a lot of fun throwing pies in their favourite teachers’ faces. Some of  the teachers got their revenge later with waterballoons.

A very special thank-you to the OSSTF for their generous contribution towards the rental of the gladiator and sumo suits, as well as for providing their tent for the sunscreen and facepaint station. As well, a big thank-you to everyone who attended, the Leadership class, the entire school staff and student volunteers who made June Afternoon wonderful.

Spirit Week

March 1st, 2011

Pick up your spirit, Cougars, from March 7th to 11th for this semester’s first Spirit Week!

Monday we will kick off the week with Cougar Pride day. Wear your Courtice colours of gold, green, and/or silver/grey OR any Courtice athletics and spirit wear.

Tuesday gets funky with Outrageous Fun Outfit day. Almost anything goes (as long as it is appropriate according to the school dress code), wear wild outfits, big glasses, bedazzlement, retro-wear, crazy hair, etc.  Show off your creative flare!

Wednesday is another day of pride for Courtice, but this time it’s Canadian pride for Eh Day!  Show off your kooky Canuck side and wear red and white, any Vancouver 2010 Olympic wear or go all-out and wear a moose hat or bring your polar bear to school for the day.

Thursday is probably Ms. Bevan’s favourite…Rainbow Day! Wear as many colours of the rainbow possible, or coordinate with a group of friends and assign a colour of the rainbow (ROYGBIV) to each person. Be bright and vibrant for Thursday!

Friday we’re ending the week with glam and class for Hollywood Day.  Dress it up like you’re going to the red carpet, or you can dress down in what you’d wear in your fancy crib if you were a Hollywood star.  Make it fun and dress as one of your favourite celebrities whether they be on the A-list or the C-list.

Adopt-a-Family

December 6th, 2010

Courtice Secondary School’s Leadership class has put its full weight behind this year’s Adopt-A-Family charitable drive. We will be donating our items to the Denise House, Bethesda House and Simcoe Hall Settlement House – all local organizations. The entire school needs to come together in remembering the current economic situation and realizing that there are many families in our community facing job losses. Please be generous and help your neighbours.

Each class will receive a family that has a wish list for each member. Gift giving need not be limited to the wish list. We will also accept non-perishable food items, Canadian Tire money, grocery gift cards, gift cards, clothing items (new with tags on), new unwrapped toys, and of course cash!
