1. SCHOOL BUS TRANSPORTATION POLICY
Buses are considered the property of the Board of Education and all rules of behaviour apply to students while being transported. School buses are provided to transport students from their designated bus stop to school and back to their designated stop. In an extraordinary circumstance in which a student must take an alternate route, he/she must bring a note from the parent/guardian clearly indicating the date, the destination of the student and the reason for taking the bus. This note must be turned into the office in the morning, signed by the Principal or Vice principal, picked up by the student and used to board the bus. Since riding the school bus is a privilege, students not observing appropriate behaviour will be reported to the office and lose bus privileges. They will be required to find their own transportation.
2. LOCKS AND LOCKERS
a. Students will be assigned a locker on the first day of school at which time they may purchase a Dudley lock if necessary. They are available in the office for $5. Lock combinations and locker numbers are kept on file in the Office for the entire time the student attends Courtice. Protect your belongings by keeping your combination private and leave valuables at home. The school is not responsible for lost, missing or stolen belongings. All assigned lockers MUST have a lock.
b. Excessive damage done to the inside of the locker assigned to a student may require payment by the student to cover expenses to restore the locker to its original condition. For this reason students should not abandon the locker they are originally assigned. When you retire from school, your locker will be inspected for damage and cleanliness. You may be charged a $20.00 cleaning fee if your locker is in bad shape.
c. Students and parents are hereby notified that school principals have the authority to search personal property and lockers. This right to search is established to assist the principals in providing “for the safety and welfare of all students and staff” under the Education Act.
d. Any locker problem should be reported to the office immediately.
