OFSAA Medalists in the News

CLARINGTON — Courtice Secondary School students BJ Cunliffe, Katey CoDyre and Nathan Ackerman all received medals at OFSAA track-and-field championships in Sudbury, with a bronze in the 2000m steeplechase, a gold in the 1500m steeplechase and a bronze in the midget boys’ 3000m. June 8, 2011

June 5  -  Courtice struck Gold and Bronze in Sudbury last week at the OFSAA Championships.  Katey CoDyre, Nathan Ackerman and BJ Cunliffe all brought home a medal while Paige Nock, Lincoln Edwards, Lisa McDonald and MacKenzie Collier all represented Courtice with outstanding performances of their own.  May 29 – Courtice had a strong showing at the Central Ontario Championships last week and qualified 9 athletes to represent us at OFSAA.  Katey CoDyre won both the Senior Girls 800m and 1500m Steeplechase titles.  Nathan Ackerman took home a second as well as a third place title in the 3000 and 1500m races for grade 9 boys.   Keith Cole pulled off the upset of the day for Courtice by winning the grade nine 800m race despite only being ranked 5th going into the meet.  BJ Cunliffe and Paige Nock both finished third , BJ in the 2000m Steeplechase and Paige in the 800m.  Lincoln Edwards finished 4th in the midget boys high jump . Our final qualification came in the last race of the day where our girls 4 x 400 team of Paige, Lisa MacDonald, MacKenzie Collier, Katey and Riekie Jobb knocked almost 15seconds off their best time this year to pull off a third place finish and a trip to Sudbury for OFSAA.  May 11- LOSSA Championship hi-lights.  Nathan Ackerman wins 2 gold medals and sets LOSSA Record in 3000m. Katey CoDyre wins 2 gold medals. Paige Nock and Mitch Robson score double medal wins as well. Courtice qualifies 11 athletes to OFSAA Central Region Championships.  Our Grade 9 boys team finishes 2nd to Pickering in points while our combined boys and girls grade 9 team finishes 3rd.  An impressive showing considering we are one of the smaller schools in LOSSA

May 9- As a final tune up for LOSSA a small group went to Brockville to compete in the Hungeford Kinsmen meet on Saturday. Top results were turned in by Keith Cole, first in the MB800m and second in the 1500m. Katey CoDyre won the 1500m steeplechase in meet record time while BJ Cunliffe won the SB 1500m.  For full team results see the link below under “RESULTS”

May 1 – Nathan Ackerman completed the golden double for the second week in a row on Friday winning the midget boys 1500 and 3000m races. BJ Cunliffe, Paige Nock, Keith Cole also won gold while MacKenzie Collier, Zack Jones and Jessica DeVilliers all placed top 3.  Keith Cole also set a meet record in the midget 800m while Lincoln Edwards set a school record in the Midget 100m hurdles.  Top 8 results can be found in the Results section below.

April 20 – Nathan Ackerman and Katey CoDyre go undefeated at Lynx /All Saints Invitational.  See link to results below.

April 13 – Congrats to BJ Cunliffe who will be heading to British Columbia next year to attend Simon Fraser University on a track scholarship.   http://athletics.sfu.ca/teams/track_m/news/elv_trackrecruits/

BJ joins  Sarah Healy (Boston U) and Evan Esselink  (Indiana U) as recent Courtice graduates who have gone on to attend university on a track scholarship.
