Our Goals:
 
Our mandate is to assist students to achieve success through career and educational planning and social and emotional support. We offer one-on-one counseling, group workshops and classroom programs. We have a new anti-bullying program that involves peer mediation and peer tutoring programs.

Student Course Request Verification sheets were distributed in homerooms on March 26th.  The courses selected by the student should be reviewed by the student and the parent/guardian.  Parents/Guardians please sign the sheet and have your student return it to their homeroom teacher by April 2, 2012.

Applying to University/College/Apprenticeships   
 
Guidance Department members held a grade 12 assembly recently to review the application process. Students are encouraged to visit the Guidance Department to review University/College overview books and to discuss options with a counselor. Below are links the students will find very helpful and useful.

Community  Involvement Diploma Requirement
 
 
All students must complete 40 hours of community service in order to graduate.  Community Service hours are to be completed at a not for profit organization or within your own community. Community service hours may not be completed at for profit business or in your own home. If you have any questions regarding appropriate community service hours please see Mrs. Kirkland in the Guidance Department.

Registration Information
 
All students wishing to register at Courtice Secondary School  are required to submit a completed registration package. An interview will be scheduled only when the complete package has been received by the Guidance Office. Required documents may include a credit summary or transcript, authorization form, attendance record, current timetable, literacy test results, most recent report card, individual education plan (IEP), up-to-date immunization record, photocopy of birth certificate and proof of residency.
Students registering after June 30th should be aware that their course selections may be limited by full classes and scheduling restrictions.  Registration packages can be picked up at the Guidance Office.
